Sign the pledge to show you support pensions for School Secretaries and Caretakers!
Directly employed by the government yet denied a pension. This is the shocking reality for school secretaries.
Caretakers are also fighting for pensions alongside pay justice as well.
We have people who were the heart of our schools for decades now afraid to turn on the heat during winter.
They deserve far better than how they’re being treated by the government, specifically the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. More than 2,000 school secretaries are now preparing to take this campaign all the way to Government’s door.
Let the government know you support them by signing the pledge.
Background:
Fórsa’s school secretaries successfully campaigned for a new pay agreement (2021), who are now paid directly by the Department of Education. For many decades, prior to the agreement, school secretaries were individually employed by school boards of management, on varied and sometimes very precarious conditions.
The vast majority of Fórsa’s school secretary members are women while more than half (55%) are over the age of 55.
